The UK Vaping Industry Association (UKVIA) has announced that it will launch a new e-cigarette recycling resource information center in October, as well as a special Sustainable Vaping Week event aimed at informing e-cigarette users, the e-cigarette industry and sales E-cigarette shops take action now to reverse the environmental impact of carelessly discarding disposable e-cigarettes.
According to a report released by UKVIA, approximately 5 million disposable e-cigarettes are discarded in the UK every week.
The new resource center and week-long event will provide vapers with information about recycling single-use e-cigarettes and where they can dispose of them in an environmentally responsible manner. E-cigarette retailers and other stores such as bars and clubs can also download educational resources to educate their customers on how to recycle single-use e-cigarettes throughout the week and throughout the year.
The event will also provide guidance to those responsible for manufacturing, importing, distributing and selling vaping devices to ensure that they operate legally at all times, comply with environmental regulations and work closely and effectively with reputable waste management companies.
John Dunn, director general of the British Vaping Association, said: “There have been calls for a ban on disposable e-cigarettes, partly because of their impact on the environment, however a ban will not solve the problem – first of all, disposable e-cigarettes are proven to be very effective , can move smokers to e-cigarettes that are much less harmful because of their ease of use, convenience and low entry price. This is the main reason why smoking rates in the UK are currently at an all-time low. In addition, through the joint efforts of a range of stakeholders By working hard, we can reverse the current environmental impact of throwing e-cigarettes away.”
Following International E-Waste Day on October 14, Sustainable Vaping Week will begin on October 16. The resource center will be a permanent source of information about e-cigarettes and the environment.
